Marvel Censors One Shot on Disney +

Now that the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe has been streamed on Disney+ in front of a whole new audience, Marvel Studios are getting more cautious about the kind of content they’re putting out. Earlier this year, the studio briefly censored two scenes in The Hawk and the Winter Soldier Before reversing the course a few days later. Then there was the eerie tribute removal for Stan Lee just seconds after Jon Bernthal’s Punisher shot a group of street-level criminals. Now, it appears that more modifications have been made.

As one eagle-eyed Marvel viewer noted, the one-shot Ben Kingsley starring in long live the king Edited to remove a line from a guest that Slattery interacts with. direct He notes that the scene once included a prisoner named Hermann calling, “Hello, cracker! What’s up?” Now, this line has been modified so that Hermann simply says “Hi! What’s up?”

According to Hollywood insiders, previous content modifications occurred due to “technical glitches,” although that’s likely not the case with the sequence.

“Eagle fans were right, an episode of”The Hawk and the Winter SoldierChanged on Disney+,” in THR Ryan Parker previously explained on Twitter in March. “I heard from a trusted source that it was a software control issue and the wrong file was recently posted in error. It is corrected immediately.”

Marvel is not the only content that is censored by Disney+. At launch, fans noticed that both Splash and Wizards of Waverly Place had been changed to align with the service. Organizations such as the Parents Television Council quickly applauded the steps.

“Disney+ has a distinct advantage over other streaming services in that its business model is designed to be family-friendly,” Tim Winter, president of PTC, said in a statement. “We are grateful to Disney+ for judiciously making sure that nudity in the original movie, splash, has been edited. Making these changes does not make the movie unrecognizable or unwatchable. Instead, the mods work to ensure that children who may be watching the movie are not exposed to nudity, and this ultimately makes Disney+ a trustworthy streaming company for families.”

“As Disney+ continues to add new content, we want to encourage the company to maintain its commitment to families to provide a safe and family-friendly environment — which is even more important because kids spend more time using digital media during quarantine,” Winter’s statement continued. “While the company has promised not to include R-rated content, we’re asking Disney to go one step further to protect children by adding parental controls and content filtering options. These two steps will make Disney+ even better for families.”
